Beachline Safety - A guide to safe work practices
With new and inexperienced deck hands entering the fishing industry in record
numbers, the potential for serious accidents has increased. As part of a strategy
to eliminate injuries on the beach, the Workers' Compensation Board and the United Fishermen and Allied Workers Union joined forces to produce 'Beachline Safety', a 30-minute training video to help introduce inexperienced beach crews to safe beach-work practices. 'Beachline Safety' is presented in four parts. The first part gives an overview of the beachline operation. The second and third parts show the operation in more detail, first from the beach and then from the seiner. In the last part a veteran beachman explains specific tie-up procedures.
