Industry Recommended Practices (IRP's) for Petroleum (Oil & Gas) - Other Jurisdictions
An Industry Recommended Practice(IRP) is a set of best practices and guidelines compiled by knowledgeable and experienced industry and government personnel intended to provide the operator or user with advice regarding the topic considered. IRPs are NOT a regulation. In the case of an inconsistency or conflict with any applicable legislative requirement, the legislative requirement prevails.
American Petroleum Institute (API)
"The API offers publications regarding standards, recommended practices and other industry related materials. API has developed some 550 equipment and operating standards used around the world."
International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC)
"The IADC is a trade association that represents drilling contractors, producers and associates and promotes commitment to safety, preservation of the environment and advances in drilling technology. The IADC offers publications regarding recommended industry practices and other training materials."
International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP)
"The OGP is a worldwide association of oil and gas companies involved in exploration and production. The OGP's purpose is to provide information to interested bodies on the oil and gas exploration and production industry, to represent their members' interests at global and regional regulatory bodies and to develop operating guidelines."
