Anyone working as a surface blaster in British Columbia must have a current blasting certificate issued by WorkSafeBC. The certification process is outlined in Certification Requirements and Examinations. Before attempting to write or re-write a blasting exam, blasting candidates must be knowledgeable about Part 21 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and applicable sections of the new WorkSafeBC Blaster's Handbook (available at WorkSafeBC Examination locations for $25.00). Other reference information can be found in the Transportation of Dangerous Good Regulations, the Explosives Act and the British Columbia Motor Vehicle Act.
