Certification

 Diver (Commercial)

DiverThere are two types of commercial diving in BC - scuba and surface supplied. Divers must meet the CSA competency standard for diving operations and be competent to use the diving equipment to be used in the diving operation. WorkSafeBC currently recognizes like certification from workers from other jurisdictions who meet these qualifications.

The standard for divers is CSA Standard Z275.4-97 Competency Standard for Diving Operations. The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) has developed a pilot web site that provides access to CSA Standards referenced in federal, provincial, and territorial OHS Regulations. The project is funded by the CSA, WorkSafeBC, and health and safety partners across Canada. View the CSA standards online.
