 Qualified Avalanche Planner

 

Avalanche photograph courtesy of Clair Israelson.Under s. 4.1.1 of the OHS Regulation, a Qualified Avalanche Planner is a person with training and experience in the development and implementation of active avalanche safety programs.


A Qualified Avalanche Planner means a person who is:

    • a professional member of the Canadian Avalanche Association, or
    • a certified guide and member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, or
    • a certified guide and member of the Canadian Ski Guide Association, or
    • a Qualified Registered Professional. (See the description below for Qualified Registered Professional.)

As of September 1, 2011, a Qualified Avalanche Planner must meet the current regulatory requirements and the CAA Recommended Minimum Training and Experience for Qualified Avalanche Planners published in August 2008.

Qualified Registered Professional
Under s. 1.1 of the OHS Regulation, a Qualified Registered Professional means a person who is:

    • a professional engineer or professional geoscientist, and
    • in relation to a forestry operation, a person referred to in the previous bullet or a professional forester or a holder of a special permit under the Foresters Act.
