British Columbia welcomes qualified workers from all jurisdictions. Created by the Workers Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC is the agency responsible for ensuring the safety of workers. The Occupational Health and Safety Regulation sets out requirements for employers and workers.
Workers in BC are expected to be familiar with the rules and regulations around workplace safety, and to know their rights and responsibilities as workers. For example, section 3.12 of the OHS Regulation sets out a worker's right to refuse unsafe work, and section 3.10 requires a worker to report any unsafe conditions or acts. The OHS Regulation also specifies certification and training requirements for particular occupations. This web site provides information about those occupations and requirements.
