Industrial Audiometric Technician Authorization

To be eligible for authorization to conduct hearing tests under the OH&S Regulation, applicants must successfully complete the Audiometric Technician Training Course offered at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. In addition, applicants must be sponsored by an employer under WorkSafeBC jurisdiction with a hearing conservation program, or by an authorized hearing test contractor (i.e., a business which provides hearing tests on a fee-for-service basis to industry).

Technicians must also submit an authorization application form (PDF 37 KB) upon successful completion of the initial or refresher course so that their certification can be added or updated.
