Parent Prevention Initiatives: Views from BCCPAC Representatives

During the BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Council Conference held May 2004, the WCB sponsored a discussion workshop among BCCPAC representatives. The purpose of the session was to collect opinions and ideas on current and required workplace health and safety resource materials aimed at parents.

Investigating the Consequences of Young Worker Injuries

Dr. Mieke Koehoorn, assistant professor at the UBC's Department of Health Care and Epidemiology, is conducting a study to examine the experience of young workers in BC and to evaluate long term consequences of being injured on the job at a young age.

Young Workers Community Partners Strategy

In March 2001, the WCB Prevention Division (Strategic Initiatives) commissioned development of a comprehensive Young Workers Community Partners Strategy. The strategy supports the WCB's priority of reducing the rate of injury for young workers (age 15-24), which is consistently higher than the rate for workers as a whole.
