The purpose of this calculator is to help users assess forceful exertion during push, pull, or carry tasks. Using excessive force during these tasks can cause musculoskeletal injury.

Users of this calculator should refer to the MSI Prevention Guidance Sheet for Pushing/Pulling/Carrying (PDF 32kb) from the Workers' Compensation Board of B.C. This guidance sheet provides detailed information on assessing the risks associated with push, pull, and carry tasks.

Is the use of this calculator required by the OHS Regulation?
No, this calculator is intended to help users perform
a risk assessment. However, use of this particular tool is not required by
the OHS Regulation . Other tools can be used to perform the assessment (see
the Guidance Sheet PDF 32kb).
Employers must identify factors in the workplace that may expose workers to
a risk of musculoskeletal injury (MSI). If a risk is identified, an employer
must assess the risk.
