This lesson introduces students to safety policies relevant to the hospitality industry.

  • listen to the perspective of industry leaders and gain insights in the importance of how workplace safety maintaining industry reputation

INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN



  1. This video consists of a number of individual vignettes from tourism/hospitality leaders. If desired use all videos in a stream or pick selected videos. Four to five videos are required to demonstrate the collective views of industry leaders on the importance of health and safety as good business practices
  2. Before showing the video provide background and introduce video and vignettes you have chosen
  3. Show the video
  4. Following the video, discuss the core messages from industry leaders on the purpose and benefits of safety regulations and guidelines
  5. Discuss the role and responsibility leaders have in making workplaces safe.
  6. Discuss how leaders not taking responsibility for safety can impact the workplace as well.
  7. Encourage students to discuss the role of leaders as examples and 'walking the talk' regarding all aspects of business
