The overall goals of the lessons are to:
raise awareness about occupational safety policies and the Workers' Compensation system
raise awareness about workplace hazards and ways of preventing occupational injuries and illnesses
raise awareness about rights on the job and the resources available to help
encourage students to become active participants in creating safe and healthy work environments
The instructor's plans are easy to use and will:
require little or no preparation time
fit into class theme or timetable
provide hands-on, learner-focused activities
be flexible to incorporate independent and group work
provide room for instructors to insert their own creativity & innovation into each instructor plan
Guidelines for the instructor's plans include:
a minimum of one lesson plan must be taught per learning outcome and resources are to be used at the discretion of the instructor
Instructor's plans and resources are recommendations only and can be interchangeable based on the instructors' classroom needs
suggested lesson times are at the discretion of the instructor
