This lesson introduces students to safety policies relevant to the tourism industry.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Students will:
- locate and name the sections of the OH&S Regulation specific to the tourism sector
- provide a brief written overview of each 'part' of the safety regulation as it applies to Adventure Tourism & Recreations, Accommodations, Events & Conferences, Attractions, Cultural Tourism and Transportation

- Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN
- Introduce Occupational Health & Safety Regulations as the general safety requirements that apply to all industrial workplaces as well as any specific requirements for the Tourism industry http://www2.worksafebc.com/Portals/Tourism/RegulationAndGuidelines.asp
- Instruct students to go online and identify the sectors of the hospitality and tourism industry
- Instruct students to locate and name the regulations under Part 4 General Conditions in each of the tourism sectors
- Facilitate an in-class discussion on students' findings for the tourism sectors (Adventure Tourism & Recreation, Accommodations, Events & Conferences, Attractions and Cultural Tourism, Transportation)
- Ask students to:
- provide a written overview of each 'part' of the 'regulations'
- describe the occupational safety regulations relevant to the Tourism Industry
- describe how they apply to making the tourism industry safer
