Health Care Update - March 19, 2010
Two new WorkSafeBC bulletins on safe patient handling:

Conduct risk assessments to determine the safest methods for patient handling

This bulletin reminds healthcare workers that before a patient is transferred or repositioned, a risk assessment must be performed to determine the method that is safest for both the patient and worker.
Use control measures to minimize risks of patient handling

This bulletin is a reminder that if a patient requires any help transferring or repositioning, control measures must be implemented to reduce MSI risks as much as possible.
