WorkSafeBC's governing body, the Board of Directors, has approved the release of a discussion paper with options to stakeholders for comment.

At issue is whether the descriptions contained in Schedule B of the Workers Compensation Act relating to primary site lung cancer in asbestos-exposed workers are current and supportable based on the most current medical science.

The consultation period for this item will end on December 15, 2009. The Board of Directors will consider stakeholder feedback before making a decision on the proposed policy.
