Housekeeping Changes to Occupational Health and Safety Policies

February 1, 2012

Dear Stakeholder:

The Board of Directors ("BOD") has authorized the Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Services, to make housekeeping changes to policy, including the occupational health and safety policies contained in WorkSafeBC's Prevention Manual. The Prevention Manual contains policy approved by the BOD applying to Part 3 of the Workers Compensation Act ("Act") and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation ("OHSR"). The Act requires WorkSafeBC and the Workers' Compensation Appeal Tribunal to apply these policies when making decisions. Housekeeping changes are those that do not change the meaning of the policy, such as updating references to the OHSR.

The Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Services, recently approved housekeeping changes to the Prevention Manual. A strikethrough version of the amended policy R20.40-1 is available for reference. The history portion of the policy details the changes which will take effect on February 1, 2012.

The changes reflect amendments to the OHSR that also become effective on February 1, 2012. These OHSR amendments were approved by the BOD in October 2011 and stakeholders were notified.
