Five workers at a horticultural nursery became ill from pesticide
residue while unloading evergreen trees.
Before workers
handle trees or plants where pesticide residue is likely to be
present, ensure:
- Workers are informed of the pesticide treatment and trained
in pesticide safety.
- Adequate protective clothing is worn to prevent skin contact
with pesticide.
- Enclosed work areas are ventilated to remove airborne contaminants and, where required, approved respirators are
worn.
- Emergency procedures are in place to deal with pesticide
poisonings.
