POSTER # 0590

Pesticide Residue Safety!

Five workers at a horticultural nursery became ill from pesticide residue while unloading evergreen trees.

Before workers handle trees or plants where pesticide residue is likely to be present, ensure:

  1. Workers are informed of the pesticide treatment and trained in pesticide safety.
  2. Adequate protective clothing is worn to prevent skin contact with pesticide.
  3. Enclosed work areas are ventilated to remove airborne contaminants and, where required, approved respirators are worn.
  4. Emergency procedures are in place to deal with pesticide poisonings.
