Workers have been killed and injured when heavy cases of glass or marble have fallen on them. Most of these heavy cases are unstable because of their weight and shape. When stored on the worksite they are sometimes stacked on a sloping, uneven surface. Also, they are often left free standing, instead of being stored and racked properly.

Prevention alert:

• Stack and store materials so that they will not be a hazard to workers.
• Stabilize heavy cases and containers by proper racking, interlocking, strapping, or other effective means.
• Store on a stable, even surface.
